Some useful tips on effective web search using the Google search engine |
You are about to perform a search on millions of WebPages indexed in google. To help you pinpoint the exact information that you want, you are advised to make use of the following syntax.
- Phrases that should be found in the result, exactly as it is typed, should be enclosed within a double quotation e.g. “ isoform of pepsin”
- Terms that must be included in any of the output result, should be separated with a space.
- When a PDF or HTML type of material is specifically needed, after typing the search term, leave a space then type- filetype:pdf
- Alternative forms of a search term may be separated with “OR” capitalized.
- Search term like “metabol*” are also allowed. It is treated as “metabolic’ OR “metabolism” OR other words that has a prefix of “metabol”
